D8 : Corte – Zonza

Previous Day Next Day

With an alarm clock at 9:30, we leave the studio at 11:15 for a tour of the upper town of Corte. We discover its charming streets and take the direction of its citadel and its museum. Because of preparations for the fireworks of July 14, we had a shot visit of the citadel (30min timer). We took advantage of a very beautiful exhibition on Napoleon Bonaparte, native of Corsica as he was born in Ajaccio, then we walked the galleries featuring traditional Corsican culture.

After a short sandwich break at Gaffori place, where the walls riddled with bullets recall the violence of past struggles, we leave for the great journey in the heart of Corsica by the D69 road. During this 4h30 trip riding beautiful mountain roads, very steep, we discover beautiful landscapes and come across many wild pigs, sometimes with their young.
