Previous Day Next Day

Wake up at 8:30 for breakfast followed by a dive in the Bay of Mute, facing the Centuri island. This bay is full of sea urchins and fishes accompanied by some small pink jellyfish.

Back on land, we leave to Centuri, picturesque small village living to the pace of its fishing harbor. It is a beautiful mixture of colors which offer us its coloured boats and its houses with green roofs.

It is by a very pleasant, wooded and green road, perched between sea and mountains, which we roll in direction of Morsiglia. Its square towers are characteristic and unique in Corsica.

We stop at Pino for a meal at the waterfront. In this small creek, houses made of local stone blend perfectly into the landscape. The rocks of the beach give it a wild appearance. Continuing the spectacular coast road, at the foot of Mont Cucaru emerges the village of Canari. An old asbestos quarry, impressive by its size, is located close to the village. The leftovers of the quarry operations, gray, are rejected by the sea and are found on the beaches below, shaping an amazing landscape. These beaches are made of schists pebble, like for example the one in Catarelli, where the pebbles are contrasting with the beautiful turquoise water waves.

A few kilometers in the south, always following the cornices road (D80), we arrive at the old fortified medieval town of Nonza. Literally clinging to the cliff, overlooking the sea intensely blue, topped by a defense tower made green stones, the village is grouped around the church Ste-Julie and the rock that bears the old tower. Must stop ! Breathtaking view of the beach below, accessible by a path consisting of 260 steps.
